So tomorrow morning, Sam, Marcus, and I are leaving Oxford for an epic surf trip to Newquay, a town on the coast about five hours south of here. Before we go, I know one thing that I will definitely do: Watch The Present, an awesome surf movie that Marcus brought that will definitely get me pumped up for the weekend.
I think it's fair to say that we all have our own go-to song, movie, etc. that just gets us extremely excited to do something!
Eye of the Tiger before running a 10k?

The Sanford Stadium video before a UGA football game?

As an Advertising major, some commercials can even get me pumped up. Nike has a great campaign for their SPARQ training line, or at least I think so.
My Better is Better than your Better

Songs and other forms of media/entertainment play a huge role in our lives. They can get us excited for an upcoming event. For me, that would be this song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V_h7Lm7C9Nk
In the same way, a song can act as a method of coping when things aren't going too well for you. I think I speak for Sam and I both in saying that this is by far the best song for that:

If you don't like that song, you should stop reading my blogs. Anyways, I think it's obvious that media and entertainment do a great job of setting a person's mood. So when you're packing up today or tomorrow for the trip of your life this weekend, don't forget to play your go-to song, movie, commercial, or whatever to set the stage for an amzing weekend!

*amazing in the last sentence, not amzing

I love 'fix you' and totally agree with it as a coping mechanism Music is great for any mood. I have a playlist specifically for when it rains. I have found that David Mead (myspace.com/davidmead) is perfect traveling music and have been listening to him (particularly
ReplyDelete'Last Train Home')pretty much non-stop whilst riding buses to and fro. I also enjoy listening to The Old Ceremony (myspace.com/theoldceremony) when I drink wine, I just find it most suitable.
